Zoe has posted a question on the ‘Your Freedom’ website set up by the Lib Dem / Conservative government. The Coalition Government claims to be ‘committed to restoring and defending your freedom – and [are] asking you to participate.

The coalition claims that; “This site gives you the chance to tell us which laws and regulations you think we should get rid of. Your feedback will inform government policy and some of your proposals could end up making it into bills we bring before Parliament to change the law”.

When No-One’s Watching have long campaigned that police officers should be made to wear body-worn video/audio devices when dealing with members of the public.

Their proposals are:

1. That all police officers must have body-worn video/audio devices switched on while engaged with members of the public.

2. That all police vehicles must have video devices switched on when carrying members of the public.

3.That all custody suites and cells must have video/audio devices switched on when members of the public are present.

4.That all video/audio device content that relates to members of the public must be made available to them on request.

These aims seek to protect the public and the police by providing an independent evidential record upon which all involved can rely.
